"I have the conviction that a few weeks in a well-organized summer camp may be of more value educationally than a whole year of formal school work." —Charles Eliot, Harvard University President 1869-1909
The NEOC team is a community of open-minded, hard-working individuals who are eager to create a very special summer for campers and make a difference in each child’s day. Ranging from seasoned professionals to young adults, our team members share their talents and compassion, build their life skills, and grow their marketable abilities all while performing engaging and rewarding work.
What you take away from working at camp will assist you in a very wide range of careers including, but not limited to: education, business, event-planning, hospitality, marketing, performing arts, and sports management. There is no doubt your life changes at NEOC!
Connections & friendships that can last a lifetime
Camp friends aren't just for the campers! Staff members love that working at NEOC offers the opportunity to build an international network that extends from friends to visit during personal travel to teammates to connect with professionally who can assist with job introductions and career mentoring.
Hands-on work experience
Take your theoretical knowledge and mix it with real-life practical experience to gain a key differentiating factor in your career. Master of teamwork and collaboration thanks to navigating the summer with your co-counselor? Check! Flexibility to adapt quickly? Check! Confidence to speak up to make a plan better? Check! Learn more about yourself? 100% yes!
Leadership
At camp you practice, hone, and improve your leadership skills on a daily basis. At NEOC, with camp groups changing each week, every week is a new chance to be the best leader you can be. What is the ‘best’ leader? Each week may challenge that definition and broaden your leadership skill set.
Opportunities for multi-year growth
Many of our staff return for multiple summers! They have the chance to take on new challenges, roles, and opportunities in different areas of camp and learn from different leaders. Quite a number of returning staff members take on leadership roles themselves.
